Six weekends in November and December are spent immersing visitors in the olden times, when knights in armor, fair maidens, and street performers filled the land.

Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival

About five miles west of Hammond is an event worth checking out: their Strawberry Festival. It draws crowds from all over the state and beyond for a three-day celebration. It’s easy to see why this is one of Louisiana’s largest festivals, and best of all, it’s free. As you’d expect, there’s fresh strawberries everywhere, from shortcakes and daiquiris to fried pies and salad.
